If you ever run it up to 85 or 90 mph, with all the stock nailed in stuff over you head you will know why it's done. Looks cool too.

  3. thats not really a answer,i dont have any 'stock' roof stuff.my coupe has a filled roof and raised visor.

my car also NEVER goes that fast. cant keep it on the road at those speeds

Some guys like the look others don't,I guess it depends on the era that you are trying to represent.

I see the holes in the visor as a 60's drag racing look.HRP

It is obvious, but the visor really helps to keep the rain off of the windshield. If you live in an arid climate, I guess that's not much of an issue.

Not being a smart *** but I would be more worried about a car I can't keep on road at 85mph than hole's in a visor

    Maybe louvers.

  8. you actually drive a model A that fast? i dont think so

when you are driving,it doesnt really help that much with rain.my car is now bare metal so i dont think it will be seeing rain much.

belair-i thought that also, considering i have louvers in my hood and trunk.but my visor is welded on,so...thats not an option now.my visor has 'oil can" dents.so i figured drilling it may help straighten it out

When in doubt, don't. You can always do it later, It's a pain in the **** to put the "holes" back out!

  10. My visor is drilled. I wish it wasn't. Just my .02

  11. drj-oh i know it would be a pain to weld it in if i didnt like it.my visor is kinda beat up,just figured it would kinda help hide that.

speedy-why do you wish it wasnt drilled?

yes i realize i spelled visor wrong on my thread, sorry for that all

I prefer unmodified visors myself. Also punched ones weren't all that common in the old days, at least on the average street driven hot rod. As mentioned, kind of does away with all the benefits it was originally made for too, though aerodynamics wasn't one of them.:)

    I like them without.
Silly question; why did you WELD ON such a bent/dented visor ??

I'm personally not too much of a fan but if I were to do it, I wouldn't just drill holes. I would use dimple dies

Even more off the path of a genuine old timey rod. Way better structurally but pretty sure never done to visors till the last 10 years. Ch***is members and aircraft parts yes.

I'd vote nay. Looks too affected to me. I prefer them the way Henry made them-but it's your car.

  18. Basically, for the exact reasons that landseaandair mentioned...

I vote no. Sometimes they make a car look too busy. All the reasons are there to leave well enough alone and hardly any real reasons to do it. As HRP always says, "KISS", and we aren't talkin' about Gene Simmons and crew.:D

I guess I'm alone here in the back corner shouting.... YAY..... with that said just drilling holes will look bad the dimple is the way to go. I don't know if there is enough room to do it correctly.

It depends on what the rest of the car looks like.

I say nay. Also my model a cruises at 75-80 and i got all the stock nailed in stuff. I did have to put sealer around the header though.

...............................I agree. If the op feels compelled to drill it, the dimpling tool is the way to go.

I don't like to comment on things I haven't personally done, but remembering what a friend said after louvering the visor on his '29,--Man that thing sure makes a lot of noise!
