    New guy in Germantown, WI.

Been lurking for over a year, but about to dig into a new project. I have a 1940 Ford pickup that my grandfather bought new in 1940. It was given to my father when he was 14 as his first truck. Last fall my father gave it to me when he figured out he doesn't have the time or money to restore it.

Howdy neighbor, welcome to the hamb. It's cool your able to have a piece of family history. Are you rodding the pickup or was it rodded in the past?

Hello! It's all original with 19k miles. I'm 40 and have never seen it on the road. It's probably been sitting for 50 years. Pretty straight actually, but needs full redo.

I'm going to keep it mostly stock appearing with a few mods. Drop it down, wide whites on steels, some "not so slow" engine parts, a little interior updating, but nothing real custom or modded. While it's mine, I still want to pay heritage to how my dad might have had it back in the day.

Right now I'm trying to find a decent body and paint shop that doesn't require a second mortgage. I'll do all the mechanical myself.

I'll get some pics and start a build thread at some point.

    Cheers

Sounds like a good plan, hard to find good body work cheaply done though. I do that type of work so be careful there. Don't know who I would recommend in your area.

Mix definitely appreciate that it's not cheap, but I'd didn't expect quotes for 20K or more. Ouch.

I'm in the same boat about body work. I guess the alternative is buying the tools and equipment and doing it yourself. (Has its advantages and disadvantages)

If anyone had body shop recommendations in the area, I'm definitely interested in your thoughts.

    Thanks!

I will check out some of those guys. I'm really looking for someone who does good work at an honest price and won't charge me for. 8 hours when it should take 4.
