Will a 1955-56 Ford car side shift transmission be a direct bolt in
to replace the stock 1954 Ford F100 light duty 3-speed column transmission?

Also, will a 1955-56 Ford car transmission with overdrive also bolt in the 1954 Ford F100-pickup? The truck has a 292 Y-Block engine.
    Thanks.

With one caveat up front that I have a 223, I did that on mine and two things I had to address were swapping out the main drive gear and the transmission gear cover plate on the car transmission for truck items. I was able to use those items from the truck 3 speed that I pulled out.

The truck bell housing is a bit deeper than the car bell housing so the main drive gear in the truck needs to be longer. The truck clutch pedal uses the shifter plate on the trans for support....there are two additional bolt holes on the plate.

Sorry, there's a third item.....the drive shaft length will be different with the overdrive unit.
