I have been buying and selling for more years then I want to admit, and since the web came along, even more....EVERYONE has bought something, and when it arrives, it is Broken / Busted / Crushed / Cracked or just plain ruined, because the seller didn't take the extra 5 minutes to pack it properly.....I asked this lady..."Please take a few extra minutes and pack this so as to protect the carbs"....... Every Once In A While.....Someone Listens !!!!!!
Looks like she took more than a "few extra minnits" to build and pack that...!!! Nice job...you should write & send her a nice thank you note... R-
That's a better packing job than you get on most new parts these days. sent via classroom note. pass it on
I am always willing to pay a little more for the items I buy to be packaged well. That was a first class crate that seller made, job well done! KK
If someone buys the Y Block tri power I have for sale in the classifieds I will gladly package it and ship it in that fashion
Reminds me of how I used to pack items for a business I used to work for. I never had a customer say something arrived broken or crushed. It's about pride and accountability.
We've built a bunch of crates like that over the years to ship stuff. Sometimes the crate cost more than the actual shipping, but it got the part there in good shape. When we sent my Son's tonneau cover to the louver shop we built this crate. On top of the metal we put a styrofoam sheet and then screwed down another plywood top over it all. The guy said he never got one so well packed. Don
I once recieved a 400 lb hydraulic pump tied to a pallet with a kids jump rope. And the customer was surprized when I called and told him the control was broken in shipment.
One time I won 4 doors from a model a fordor on Ebay and the guy said in his ad he wouldn't ship, so I figured I would just drive to NC and pick them up. But then I started thinking and asked him if all he had to do was slip the doors into a crate I sent up would he do that, and he agreed. We built two crates that held two doors each ( we had four other doors so we made the crate exactly to size) and I sent them FedEx and issued a call tag once he had the doors loaded inside. It was cheaper than driving to NC from Florida and all he had to do was remove a few screws and slide the doors down into the crates. He was happy, I was happy. Shipping and the cost of the wood probably cost more than the doors, but they arrived in good shape. Don
Wow. I've bought more stuff off eBay than I care to admit. Packing is many times an issue. I've seen it done wrong, and I've seen it done right. But I have never, ever, seen it done THAT right! She deserves some kind of an award. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Spray foam is quick and easy, double bag the item, set it in the box and shoot foam into each corner, suspends the item and cushions it. I've used it for cylinder heads, need a few foam blocks to set it on though.
