hey, i'm jim, i live in austin, i know a few guys on this board, and since i'm building a 54 chevy p/u, i figured i would join up, since i'm gonna have a lot of questions and i'm gonna wanna show off the truck as i get shit done.

this is the part you're gonna hate. i run a vintage vw custom shop down here called kaferwerks. i save old junked out cars, slam the shit out of em, make em loud, then scrape em down the road. it doesn't sound too much different than you guys i would think, but that's what i do, and have done for a while. i've always loved real rods, and have always been around em, but never got the chance to jump on one till i got my 54.

so i guess that's all for the intro. want some shitty pics of the truck? of course you do!

you know, i'm not sure. that's one of the many things i gotta figure out.

as far as the 54/55 thing, i keep hearing from different people that it's one or the other. i know it's titled as a 54, and was told it's production date was in 54, but like you said, there are little things that make folks say it's a 55. i just call it a 54. 55 was a year they changed right? maybe it's an early 55, before the change. again, just one more if the many things i have to figure out. knowing pretty much nothing about a car you're building is kinda fun. i get to learn new stuff and break old hard-to-replace parts. fun....
