Like I said in the ***le. Im not taking the third member apart yet on my 8 inch and want to get it cleaned up for some paint. I have been wire brushing on a die grinder but its been taking for ever and I cant get into the tight nooks and crannys. There is no grease just surface rust. Any body have any tricks besides the wire brushing?

Wire brushing just seems to polish the rust. Try some 3M type abrasive discs.

Try a rust converter product thick enough to hang on it or brush mol***es on it and wrap it with plastic wrap to keep it wet for a day or two. Then wash it off.

Its out on the floor hrp. I dont have to get grease off it so I dont have to take it to the car wash, i just want to get all the surface rust off so I can prime and paint.

    Get yourself some Naval Jelly.
The directions will be on the label.
    Quick, easy and cheap!

  12. I always use small cheap wire brushes and Purple Power to clean third members. It's time consuming but it works.
