I am building a '57 Chevy, I wanted the front end to be up in the air so I added some aluminum ball joint spacers and 409 wagon springs. I like the way just some chrome reversed rims look but the skinniest I can find new is 15x5. What is everyone running on their 55-57 Chevys that are running ball joint spacers and taller springs?

Here is a picture or two of the victim.

What size of tire are you running with those Cragars? My upper A arms are hitting my 14x6 inch reverse rims. Your car looks great.

  4. P205/75R15 tires. Oh geez....the traditional police will get me. They are actually very skinny! A customer ordered them by mistake and I got them for cost. When I saw them I knew they would fit great. I had ordered a set of E.T. streets but didn't like them....

Do you have parts numbers for those 409 springs? Have you installed them yet?

I was actually wanting to run a tire about that size myself. Good to know that they will clear the upper a arms.

My coil springs are Moog 6004. I have the driver's side installed, waiting on parts to finish the passenger's side.

I ran 235 70s with 15x7 (2 1/4 backspace) reverse dish cragars on my 55 with balljoint spacers, It was a little diffrent look than what you are goin for as I know you are wanting skinnies up front but it doesnt matter as my point is that Its the backspacing on the wheels you need to be concerned with an not the overall width of the wheel as much.
summit is where I bought the 7s but they had some reverse dish 6s with similar backspace as well.

'Tall, skinny' radials can be had in 75% and 80% heights now. But their points of origin may vary...

Thanks for the replies. This is really the only before picture that I have. This is with no engine or transmission and completely stock front suspension. I will take an after picture when I get it put back together.

That looks really good! Without the front bumper it would even look higher! Jay

  15. I have a round tube steel front bumper that my front plate is hinged to. I just push the plate up and its gone! Swing it back down if the cops are around...

That's the first '55 Chevy I've seen in years with a front bumper!

Only pictures that I have of the difference so far. The springs and spacers definitely rose the front of the car up. Hopefully it won't ride that terrible after I get the 427 and 4 speed in.
