When I bought my 50 it had clear plastic lenses that were pretty crazed. I looked at places like Mac's for replacements and found only clear plastic lenses. I found a set of aftermarket yellow glass lenses to replacement my originals. Recently I saw a set of clear glass lenses that carry the 0M-13208 part number. My question is what did the 50 come with, plastic or glass, or was there a midyear switch? Thanks for any input.
OEM lenses are plastic w/FoMoCo script and "MPT - 50". Glass lenses are aftermarket. Gennie plastic lenses can be found on Ebay quite often. Here's a single: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1950-Ford-M...t=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr
Don't have my parts book handy, but that sounds like the correct part number. I've only ever seen clear plastic lenses on original cars and/or parking light assemblies. The one on Ebay is a correct, NOS lens. I've seen glass lenses at swap meets, but never in a FoMoCo box. Maybe the lens with the part number is a later service replacement part? Unless you're doing a correct restoration, run the glass ones if the price is right.
Hello. Just slided in and saw the discussions. I do have a pair of glass lenses and the have a Mercury part number like 0M-xxxxx or so. Boxes are yellow and I'm sure they are aftermarket but they look beautyful. Hope they will fit good as they look. They have changed so much on the HAMB so now it's hard to find things. Lars.
