Paul Kelly send me these fantastic Bubble Top Customs designs made by Australian Car Designers Aden and Scotty... This is the story that came with it. One day in 2001 Paul was talking to Aden on the phone and the topic of Bubble Tops came into the conversation. We spoke about the American built ones from the 60s and contemplated what an Australian based version could have like in the 60s Paul picked an EJ Holden as the base but put a twist on the criteria, by making the back of the car the front! Aden liked the idea and said he would put something on paper. Later that night Paul spoke to Scotty and presented the same idea. Neither knew the other was working on the same base concept. When the finished artworks arrived they were fantastic and Paul rang them to let them in on what was going on. They both enjoyed the challenge and asked if I had any other ideas. (Let me know if you guys want to see the other designs they came up with as well.) The artwork was later shown in Australians Newsledder and Street Machine magazine. The base for the EJ Holden Bubble top custom... Aden came up with this design in 2001 Later he did a new version of it... Scotty came up with this...
Aden's first design is KILLER! Would love to see it built. All we need is someone with a couple of semi-trailer loads of cash, and it's a GO!
Nice concepts. I would have never thought to flip the car around. I would be interested in seeing the other designs they came up with. Thanks for posting these concepts.
There were a bunch of designs printed in Hot Rod, back in the early nineties, with reversed bodies. I remember the `65 Corvette particularly.
Maybe you could get that green '59 Chevy, that Boyd did,and make it a bubble-top! Save it from a dismal death...
A few more.... Aden's design for a Valiant Bubble Top Kustom... Scotty's version... Aden's Ford Falcon...
That is cool, ive always had this idea off making a FC holden bubble top but I think the EJ would also be aprpriate if not more.
Aden ...Artiste!!! A mate has a Aden Jacobi original hanging on his wall ,it depicts his customline as custom...His paintings are works to be prized .
There you go Moriarity. Your next project or projects. You've got the skills to pull this off. But I do agree someone should build them. I like them all but my favorite is the bottom falcon one. I like the half bubble roof and front clip look.
Mel Gibson shoulda driven a bubble top Holden with the blower sticking through the hood...woulda been MUCH kooler!
