I have a three deuce intake and carbs for my 409 (348 intake) and for my small block Chevy. Both have three Rochester "2 jet" carbs. The three on the 348 are supposed to be the right carbs, but one end carb doesn't have a shaft that goes all the way through the base plate. The center carb has a manual choke and the end ones don't. On the fenton small block intake, the three carbs have shafts that go all the way though the base and there is a progressive linkage hooked up. The center carb has a manual choke and the 2 end carbs have a shaft that looks like it might have held a choke and the big round black deals on the outside that would adjust an automatic choke. The SBC carbs all have idle adjuster screws on them - not sure about the 348 intake's carbs as far as the adjusters go. What the hell do I have and what do I need? Will these setups work? I know the end carb with the short shaft will need to be changed or modified for the linkage to work.
In a true 3x2 setup, the end carbs not have idle screws or p***ages. Real end carbs are getting harder to find, you can buy the bases and kits from several places to turn standerd carbs into secondary end carbs.
What Tman said...... and ... you can buy extended throttle shafts for the linkage ........easy install .... Jersey Skip
OK, I checked the carbs on my 348 intake and they do not have any provision for idle screws or chokes, so I'm ***uming they are correct except for the one shaft being too short. Anyone have a link to NW Speed or anyone else that has these parts? I see Speedway has a kit, but at well over $300.00 I'm wondering if it's worthwhile. As far as the idle screws being filled with lead - would that be any different than just turning them all the way in?Thanx,
Lots of people here have had trouble with Mr/. Lackner at Northwest Speed including me so be careful dealing with him.
Yes, I think I was one of the few that got what I needed. He has changed names and gone underground a few times in the last 9 years since this thread was started. Steer clear.
I usually get my tripower parts from Vintage Speed. Some people on here have evidently had problems there as well but Charlie has always been good with me. http://www.vintagespeed.com/ I will say he has everything you could possibly need and the expertise to set you in the right direction.
Charlie has always treated me well, in fact just this week he was a big help with a 2G tri-power problem I was diagnosing. He will continue to get my business, Thanks again Charlie.
