Curious to know if a gear box from a factory power steering impala / Bel air is the same as a manual since the lines from the power steering pump go to a control valve instead of going to the gear box? Bought an aftermarket power box and I'm having problems. Thanks. JJ

  2. My 1963 Impala is power ***ist to the drag link. There are no lines to the box.

Its a goofy set up, let me see if I have any pics, I helped my dad do one on a 63 ss 409 frame off a while back.

Put in a 606 box. You will not be disappointed in comparison to the stock power ***ist setup.

The power steering steering box has a slightly quicker steering ratio than a manual steering box. Otherwise, they are the same. I used a power steering box, without the power steering, in my 59, for just this reason.
