  2. There are special bolts that go through hinge into hood . Jim carter sells them and so does shoebox central !

I think the 49' hinge is different from a 50'/51', though the shoulder bolts are probably the same..

49ers had bad hinges and a weak hood brace to bolt them to. Doors latches **** as well. Not sure if you can add 50 hinges and brace to the 49 hood. Doors your screwed as they are different in the latch ***y.

  10. You can use inside of hood brace and hinges from a 1950-51 on a 49 hood !! If you want to know what the difference in hinges look like go to shoebox central they have pics of hinges . Hope this helps

that's right about the 49 hood--it's bad news. check out the scene in "thunder road" where the mitchums are prepping the "50" for a run. that car had a 9 year old '49 hood on it and it already was doing the el-foldo on the right rear corner!

  14. The photo from Happy Hoppy is of a 1950 Hood and hinges. Totally different. You have a 50 Hood in your photos and 49 hinges. They will NOT work as a system. You need a 49 Hood or 50 hinges to get the hood mounted on your project.
49 Ford Coupe just went through all this.

  17. F.Y.I. When shopping for a hood, if your unsure of what your looking at or being told by the seller. 1949 Hood had 4 individual block letters spelling FORD on the front of the hood. 1950 hood just had the Ford Badge on center mounted with 2 quarter inch studs. No letters at all.
