Need help with the Id of a car found in the brush after more than 40 years. Owner cleared away a large area of brush and found this under it, he forgot it was even there, and can't remember when he put it there. The body appears to be pretty solid, no pictures of the front end, couldn't get to it. Thanks for the help.

'35 or '36 Ford for sure. Flat back is a fairly rare body style, I believe. Save it !!

  4. I'm with TagMan; it looks like most of it might be there. Save it!

Ford, as above. Trailing edge of rear fenders, dash details will probably be enough to tell if '35 or 6, but I'm not that familiar with these late model Fords. Curvature of backs of rear fenders is easiest difference to confirm year...

Thanks, I believe tagman has it right, I was looking at late 30's Ford and Chev, didn't look at the 35 models. The owner will sell it, he's not going to do anything with it. That model is called a flatback? Thanks again for the help.

  7. Looks like '35 Ford Flatback to me. Love that Stewart-Warner Southwind heater hanging under the dash.

Wow cool find.. Even has taillights and stands, most gauges, glove box door and you can see the factory leaded sections running down the top and rear panel.. Got my juices flowing just seeing it...

look closely at the big center gauge??? Originally it was an ash tray or a radio head. there should be a SS "waterfall" there but the hole is too big for the original application. I seem to remember differences in the firewall stiffening stamping that will determine if its a 35 or 36

  10. .................Car looks remarkably complete and savable......and it's a very desirable body style. Don't let it slip away.:)

The center gauge is not factory... too big I believe. Originally it was an ashtray or a radio head. The center SS "waterfall" is missing. I seem to remember that there is a difference in the cowl stiffening ribs between the 35 and 36.

I think the 36 has an X on the firewall. Or maybe it's the 35. Anyway, snag it.

  13. You lucky guy. All I find in my brush is dandruff.

    Save that Ford. It's a 36.

Like the others have said 35 or 36 ford. Hell that dash is worth 150.00 all day long where I live.

  15. Can't wait to see the rest of it. I hope you are able to buy it!

I wasnt able to get a good look at the front end and see how complete it is. Not sure what he wants for it, he has alot of old cars and there's about 30 buried under all that brush. Here's a couple more pictures. . I know it's hard to put a number on it and condition is everything. What'a fair price for one in this shape. It is pretty solid from what I could see. Car is in Western Oklahoma.

I think the Ford is a '35, and it appears to have a South Wind heater in it. The cars in the last two pictures are an Imperial and a DeSoto, something like '59 and '55 (roughly).

Shoot him $200.00 and see if he bites. Then tell him you'll help get the rest outta there.

The grille in the Imperial are worth as much as the 55 Desoto grille.

  23. Imperial is probably a 57-58. Those taillight lenses are good for about $75-$100 each. Liable to have a 392 in it. You can part it out to a bare shell depending on how the chrome is. The '55 DeSoto grille might be good for $500. Should also be a Hemi, though not as desirable of one.

$200 is too cheap, they'll bring more than that over the scale, it's not 1985 anymore. $500 is still a steal for the Ford.

'35 will have a concave fender sweep similar to the earlier cars while the '36 will be convex, more bubbly like the later cars. The cowl sides are the best way to spot the difference in bare shells. '35 can have smooth or X stamped cowl sides, '36 will have the X. '35 has cowl lacing that runs all the way from side to side while on the '36 it's just on the top of the cowl. '36 has rubber bumpers (or at least the holes for them) on the side instead of the full lacing. Slantbacks are the shit. Put the Hemi out of one of those mopars in it and be happy! p.s., that guy has been trying to sell that car on ebay for at least a year.

  26. I sold one that wasn't quite perfect a few years ago and had no problem getting $450 when the first buyer backed out. It sticks in my memory because he gave me this BS about a sick wife in another state, and I look through his eBay feedback and see he used the same excuse to back out of a car a full year before that - and won a listing for parts to another DeSoto grille in the meantime. So I call him on it and he lays the religious stuff on me. Not sure St. Peter will look favorably on that one. But it worked out because he'd offered less in the first place.

Thanks for all the information. I have bought cars from the owner in the past but mostly late 60's, early 70 muscle cars. The 35-36 looks like it would be a good project. All the cars are for sale, he's not "going to fix it up one day". I live about 1500 miles away from the cars and will be heading down with a trailer next month, he will hold it for me until I get back down if we can agree on a price.

Looks like you have yourself a line on a nice little stash there. Hope all of those cars go to a good home. Congratulations.

I looks like the short tail light stands which should make it a 35.

The car on the left is a Ford 53 or 54, and a Desoto on the right if i am seeing right.
