I'm going to build my Studebaker pickup into a g***er. I am considering a Speedway straight axle kit. I'm wanting a to know what width would look look best, I'm using 15 by 6 Torque Thrusts. I don't want something too narrow so it looks out of place yet I don't want it too wide so the tires are beyond the fenderwells. Anyone done this type of conversion? Thanks.

I prefer the final setup to have the front tire/wheel outer edge just inside the fender opening. So the way I start is to either measure the overall width outside the fenders, or situate the tire/wheel combo in the opening, and then measure from the inside mounting surface of one to the other.
The Speedway straight axle info says to add 8" from the kingpin measurement to determine overall width to the mounting surface. So if you have your tire and wheels, or you know the backspace and offset, you can determine where you want it to sit, and do the math to determine what axle width you want.

Thanks, this all makes sense and I should have a good looking set up.
