So whats the going rate for these 325 poly engines? Its out of a 57 dodge. complete with a push ****on 727 trans. The guy said it was ran last in 2001 and is sure if gas and a battery were hooked to it it would fire up. Thanks, Eric

...it sounds like the one I recently picked up at an auction for $100...
But every engine has its own value based on who is selling and who is buying. No, I would not sell mine for less than $500 as-is on the pallet.

The value will all depend if you find someone needing one. If someone is restoring a '57Dodge ragtop and needs an original engine and cast iron torqueflite, could be worth as much as $1500 if it runs well. Parts for these are expensive, which would make a used, running engine/trans combo more desirable. Finding someone that is looking for one will be the hard part, however.

    Are you sure it's a 727 trans?

the early polys have actually become very popular, but to a limited crowd, don't let anyone b.s. you. the trans is not a torqueflite if it is cast iron.

From 56-61 the first generation torqueflite was cast iron. The 727 was the 62 and up aluminum case torqueflite

They were a good motor but if you want the look there are a lot of hemi heads out there to swap.

Why bother, everyone can recognise a Hemi but not too many will be able to pick an early Poly. Some will even think it's a W motor.
