my buddy's 63 fairlane sits up with original eelco spacer blocks, and is period correct save for the cd player mounted behind the ash tray. still has a generator to boot. he's gonna axle it, and we actually picked up an econoline axle that was in a local legend's mustang in the 60s.

i'd like to modify what was said regarding looking slow and being fast being cool... fast is cool, period. nads said it pretty well when he said that we all soldier on bravely with 8 deuces when we know two fours will always work better. everybody here is probably guilty of making decisions other than bottom line top performance, considering we prefer 60s and earlier technology for the most part. but we know we can be fast enough with our old junk, justifying our decision in a practical, near quantifiable sense.

dude's 64 1/2 mustang we got the axle from had a 289. also had 5:60-somethin gears in a 9 inch, and ran in the 12.90s in 1968 at lions, and wound past 8000 rpm. and he never really ever raced it on the street. just cruised maple ave. here in town. and it's cool.

my buddy's 63 fairlane isn't as fast as that, has a 289 also, with a 4 speed and 4:50-something gears in it, and get's the job done. gets rubber in all four gears to boot, and he drives it on the street.

it's all relative. if it's gonna be flamboyant and very race car inspired within the bounds of reasonable safety, it had better back it up to some extent. that's why my impala will have astros and sit low!

Poser? HELL NO! Drive it everywhere, race it all the time...Poser? Hardly. See, your car is the one that other people are building their's to look like. Pattern does NOT equal Poser. ****, I'd be grinning like an idiot to be racing against your car...don't car who would win. It's a cool looking car.

i've got three things to say about this subject:

    1. every time i have to jack a car up to crawl under it i wish it had this stance,

    2. i didn't read 99% of the verbiage in this post 'cause it started to sound like drama that i don't have time for (there's prolly some good info in here that i'll just have to miss; but i'm at work), &

    3. daaayyeemmnn, i like the pix!

and one other thing, tingler, i haven't forgotten that you owe me a ride in your fairlane. how 'bout bringing it to MoKan this year?

Umm, so how quick is it? Does it hook up? Do you take it to the track? I stand by the statement I originally made, is that car quicker and faster than a '55 with A arm suspension? Do the modifications work?

Or…here's the dealio, I do like a girl with a big rack, but I'm a little disappointed to remove the sweater and bra to find a flat chest and a padded bra. Sorry if I offended anyone, but looking like a g***er and making a car handle worse with out a performance improvement is wearing falsies. Or rolling up a pair of socks to stick down your Levis.

I calls 'em like I sees 'em.

Well, if you think about it, we're ALL posers, since it's no longer 1938, or 1955, or 1964 or whatever era you're emulating on your car, whether it's a hotrod or a kustom.

It doesn't matter to me 'cause it's all just for fun. Excuse me while I go back to building my poser g***er. :D

"Hi, my name is Tim. I also do engine work on BMW's."

    "AAAAAHHHH!!!! She pees standing up!"

Sorry for the Batchelor Party quotes but I like old movies as well as Starsky and Hutch. Here is where I disagree with Phil....I like a girl with a big rack too and if I remove the sweater and find the flat chest and padded bra, I'm gonna say to myself "Well hell, I've already paid for it, I might as well take it for a ride." Sure there are some cars and chests that I'd be embarr***ed to be seen on but I look at hot rodding like I look at my life. I'm in prison and when all you have are other guys around you, that flat chested chick starts looking very fine. When you live in a world of econoboxes and plastic cars, that hi-jackin, car-wash cruisin, damn near levitatin' 60's freak rod starts gettin my juices goin too. If I can get a flat chested bra paddin freak in the back, I'll take that too. That's what this is all about. I think Chili Palmer said it well. "You don't need a fast car, if you are important, people will wait for you." That being said was irrelevant though... I like fast cars and I'd trade all of this for a faster car and some great big knockers that I could bat around like cat toys.

Sorry, I meant to have a point here. What were we talking about?

So dude, how will you react when someone who doesn't share your taste in music moves in next door and plays that music at full volume when you're trying to sleep. Will you say "hey, that guy totally rocks!!!!", and when your wife wakes up angry will you say "hey honey, it that guy's right as a property owner to do whatever he wants regardless of how inconveniences us as his neighbors!".......or will you say "wow, that guy is a complete ***hole!!!"?

    Just something to think about.

  19. Looks cool, Not a G***er and not really what I'd build, but it was a trend in the early 70's and is kind of retro looking now, which I think is cool.

That's why I enjoy the H.A.M.B. Everytime I think I know about something the more I realize the less I understand. :D Which suits the true purpose of learning the real facts.

I like em all I guess,"g***er","street machine" I have never been one to underestimate the virtues of both the loaded pistol and the plastic one. Each has its own degree of lethality if you really think about it.

I agree, but i'm still going to call them g***ers...lol This stuff wouldnt be nearly as fun if we couldnt laugh at each other.

By the way Fords are better than chevies

  25. I second that. My buddy knows the people that produce these for MAS and he doesn't recommend them for tri-five cars either.

  26. My 2 cents is this, if you are going to build a straight axle car you have to cut the front end off, that is the way most were done, cutting weight. If you want you can check out how my buddy Lonnie did his '55 and I'm doing my '56, we tried to do***ent Lonnies build on our club website.
