Picked up this sedan last fall and started digging into it recently.. Actually haven't been able to stop every night after work I'm out in the shop until 10 pm.. Has been a lot of fun I've always tinked around on cars w the ol man but this is by far the biggest project I've taken under. I am certainly learning a lot and finding new skills and having a blast.. I've been gathering parts since I purchased the car so I've been able to hit the ground running. Hopefully the end result will be pretty gnarley. I'm going for a old school traditional look but very low, very clean , anybody can put a car together and call it a rat but I'm going to go the extra effort so it's not a eye sore, more pics to come!! Looking great, just doing one myself, just about finished the bodywork and about to give it a 4 1/2 inch chop, what did you cut out of yours it looks around 6? The body on yours looks in great condition, I can only wish I had something in that condition to start with, it's a case of taking what you can get over here. I'll be following this build with interest. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Thanks!! I went w 5 inches.. I was going to do seven from the start., figured five would be best and if I didn't like it it's easier to cut more out than to add material.. The body was pretty rough, not bad for Minnesota though.. Still have a bit of patch work to do then the roof is the next project.. I chopped the top off a 63 Pontiac wagon to make quick work for that! I'll keep updating!! Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Very cool, yea 6 is pretty extreme unless your 5 foot tall. Good to see your putting a roof skin in it, I'm using a 64 Australian Valiant wagon roof, same as a 63 Barracuda roof Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Update on the build.. Got the roof insert cut and s***ched in still doing a little body work, have a few more part to pick up and then it's time to put it all together!! Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Looking good, the top laid down nice...what did it come out of? I've got a 28 sedan project going on now. I'll check back with you. Fine job!
The top came out of a 63 Pontiac Safari wagon, I agree it did lay down nice it was actually quite easy which is saying a lot considering my novice metal skills I used the roof brackets from the wagon cut them to size and cut three slices at the third points to give them some flex, cut the skin to size, tacked it on then came from underneath and pulled tacks towards one another from side to side.. It was very tedious but everything's tight, strong, and it looks pretty damn good!! I'll update photos soonish body's pretty close to being done Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
