This video is cool by itself, but the bonus is a couple of Hot Rods seen in their natural habitat.... look for a 34 Cabriolet at 1:48 and a Model A Roadster at 3:21. At the end of the video there is another 34 Cabriolet, and while not a Hot Rod per se, both 34's in the video have their bumpers on upside down... There ya go model 40 owners, if you want to be traditional, flip your bumpers over!
................So true! That A Roadster looked like a very well done car for the time period. Who would ever think to flip the bumpers on those Model 40s? Guess it kinda acted like an over-rider to some extent, maybe saving some body damage in a minor collision. Cool video, thanks for posting. Love the old B/W stuff.
That was a great video. Thanks. I had '41 deluxe bumpers on my '40 coupe and flipped the front one because it enhanced the downward rake on the car,but I never saw a Model 40 with them flipped before. I think the over rider idea is probably correct to protect that grille.
I tried to watch this in "Full Screen" mode, and found myself getting somewhat motion sick. I can't watch helmet cam videos of guys climbing towers, either! Cool video, though, and I can handle it in small frame.
Great film. The purpose of the film is for films that need a backdrop of L.A. while driving in a car. There are others on that web site. This film was shot on Bunker Hill, once home to mansions then became low income area, which no longer exist as it was leveled and is now cluttered with large and high rise buildings.
Really enjoyed the 1941 Lincoln Zephyr stalking your cameraman in the first part. Thanks for posting.
looks like 48 or 49 it was done. but that can not be LA (California), not one Woodie was shown.. I dig the old Model A Mail truck..
I can't believe how many model A coupes are in that video! Maybe one is mine, it was an LA car it's whole life until I bought it. That A mail carrier is awesome. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I've seen this video quite a few times(and also the San Francisco 35mm footage done a day before the big one hit in 1906, check it out if you've never seen it!!) and I figured just by deduction this was filmed in '49. Sweet trip back in another time and another place.
Very cool.... and great quality. The wife and I go to downtown quite a bit, she used to work there, so we recognized a few buildings, etc.....
Yep. I thought that was strange. I always thought Packards were a luxury car... maybe it was a luxury taxi.
The video is remarkably clear. I do like the traffic lights. Looks like they only required red and green back then. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
