In my 1955 Buick Special with a 401 and a Turbo 400 I used a piece of 4" channel iron cut at an angle to match the inner frame rails with some flat bar welded to the ends and drilled to match the mounting holes for the old crossmember. Then just drill it to match whatever transmission mount you use, I used the original but had to re-drill it later to fit the only style of new mount that was available so you might want to get your mount first.
Here's a photo of the crossmember in my '55 Special 2-door with a 350 Chevy and TH350 ******. It's a reworked original crossmember that bolts in the original holes in the frame. Hope this helps.
What did you do or how did you do the front crossmember for motor mounts? Looking at getting a 55 Buick century that's super clean but doesn't have engine. It has a caprice rear end and Chevy trailing arms already done. Thanks for the info/help Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
The motor mounts are common Chevy aftermarket side mounts which use rubber biscuits. The lower sections were fabricated and welded to the frame. No rocket science here...
