never knew those side panels were metal. learn something new every day. someone mentioned Woodies on the Wharf in Santa Cruz, I bet there are twenty five 1949 - 1951 Woodies there every year. by far the most popular cars in the show.

I looked up the possible color you are seeking and it looks like Silvertone grey. Here is a picture like your car. What do you think?[IMG]

I was wondering if that may be the color... need to get the car into the daylight...Silvertone Grey or Sea Island Green Poly.. The rims have a green tint to them, which we had off to mount tires... Thank you

so more varnish on the p***enger upper door wood frame, the left upper quarter wood frame...So it's about 10-11 coats of varnish ... Wet sand...Bruce got the lower glued together... The middle spar and dog leg Bruce made.. After taking the p***enger door apart..I have more work to do on the driver's door.... More screws into the top, middle and lower wood spars... ACE is the place for more wood screws ! LOL We are shooting to have is all back together by the end of this month... Then off for some mechanicals... I won't make Billetproof... Goodguys I hope..

I just love taking something apart after its back together... After taking the p***enger side apart.. I realized that I missed about 6 retaining screws on the inside of the door that held the wood frame to the door...Hey it went back together faster the second time !

Well, we did some wet sanding on on the varnish on the frames and added another coat... Stripped off the old door weatherstrips and clean off the surfaces...Big bummer The D.C. restoration 49-51 Station Wagon door seal kit was mis-packaged and contained seals for a 2 door sedan kit.... So no door seal kit install....should have p***enger side together very soon...

Well been a while since I posted some updates on the ole woodie...So the p***enger side door wood is all varnished and ready to be reinstalled. I did get the upper frame on today... The lower door frame's varnish was still to soft... Will need to install the wood grain metal panels & screw it all down with the wood batting strips. Removed the inner quarter trim panel, and dis***embled the tail gate bracket.. Bruce & I started taking the wood of the upper quarter...Some of the harware ole Henry Ford used is crazy. Getting the upper metal wood guide out require some work...They used a metal wood tack the went through the metal channel and into metal body.. The used these odd metal tacks also to hold the headliner down along the side... Fun ! lower quarter tomorrow...Hope to finish the p***enger door...

Woodies on the Wharf was awesome I was #157 and cars continued to come in after I came in, I think they may have hit the 200 mark. Just like LARS is a must go to WOW for Woodie owners is too.

so we should be able to start getting the driver side rear quarter back together and gl*** back in.... we missed our Billetproof date.. oh well ... Maybe Goodguys in Puyallup for it... These cars are alot of work I'm finding out .. But it's worth it in the end... I have a Woodie which I thought would never happen... Just get keeping at it...

That is sooo cool! I'd use the stock hubcaps on those chrome reverse rims and call it a day. Congrats Rob!

Ok ! so the wood is all done and installed, gl*** is all installed, the interior garnish and lower trim panel installed... YEAH ! now off for some mechanicals....Just may make GG hopefully... Bruce really busted his **** stripping the wood of it yellow paint.. sanding it , restaining and varnish... Some late nights for sure.. I am very thankful for all his hard work, and it was fun helping putting everything back together... I learned alot on how these cars were ***embled.. my hats off to the Ford employees who put them together over 60 years ago.. They are alot of work.. Mr. Patjens (RIP). He never threw anything away.. everything he removed was in the car... Plans are to take his three boys and widow for a spin around Tacoma when its road worthy...after 40 years it will be hitting the roads in Tacoma once again ..Bruce's ole Model Woodie had to share..
