    Marc:
I have no doubt that you guys will get the car back together and rippin n snortin in time for the Meltdown.....What with your focus, drive, and determination, and Ric's.....Well apparently Ric has rabies,or is in the middle if a psychotic episode or something, based on his last few posts, but I'm sure that if you crank up the battery charger in the shop and give him one or two real good jolts, you'll be able to get some real solid work out of him! :D

    Scott

Ps: I think you guys should bring the blue 55 as well so we can have some match races between it and the former Grocery Getter, which is now renamed the "Lakeshore Shaker" since te lettering job is complete....
Still haven't heard back from Ryan whether I can post a complete pic of the car or not,so for now I have to ***ume that's a big fat no,and just show you bits and pieces.... ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1403662639.909429.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1403662661.973286.jpg

From what I've seen so far, the lettering looks great! Will just have to wait to get the full picture in person in Byron! :) In the early stages of thinking about making this trip, Ric & I talked about bringing another car, but decided on just the 56 for several reasons. Road trip will be more fun/less expensive riding together, plus we can take turns driving. Also, half the logistics of prepping two cars, tow vehicles & trailers. Plus, since the 56 is coming together this late, we'll have plenty to sort out. We're hoping to have it ready for a test & tune at Irwindale on 7/10. Maybe we'll convoy with a couple of cars next year after we see how it goes this year...

PS. You guys will have to excuse Ric, he's a little short in the sleep department the last few days! I just have to point him in the right direction and he's good to go! That's a little scary cuz he's the brains of this here operation!

    Thanks Marc,
I've worked really hard on getting this think running and looking the part for the Meltdown, including getting Eastgate Ford out of Hamilton on board.
They ran a B/FX Falcon, and a S/S Galaxie back in the day,and their owner was REALLY excited about seeing their old school logo on the side of a period correct '60's drag car again!

And I'm glad you guys are bringing the 56.Its the car that everybody will be looking for:)

Happy to report MUCH LESS empty space! As you can see, motor is in with flywheel & clutch attached. Sure is nice not to have to navigate around fenders, core support etc.! :) Starter is in and wires connected, and steering is reconnected. We wiped down the entire engine compartment and front end with Gibbs Oil before dropping the motor in. Thanks for the help Snake! Not to worry, the valve covers will be replaced with our finned Edelbrocks that were previously on the motor. Back at it tomorrow, or should I say tonight. Hopefully get the Jerico in it as well as the headers and start making the rest of the connections. Panneton Bros. signing off for now...

Got a question. Do you think that if a person was to just run a loop of steel line bent in the shape of a ****** cooler would you get enough cooling ? I am thinking 60 inches.
Now I am talking drag car no street use.
I have been thinking about this wondering if an auto trns actually gets to operating temp.

  9. Years ago, I drove a rear engine dragster in Super Comp, Compe***ion Eliminator, and fast brackets for my employer. We and many others never ran a trans cooler, we simply "looped" the cooler ports with small braided steel line. The trans & converter would get a bit warm, especially with the trans brake usage, but we never hurt the trans or converter. Most guys went to coolers, when they were trying to drive/maintain the car themselves without a helper. Plus back in the late 80's/early 90's, we were able to have a tow vehicle. Many cl***es now require the car to be driven to the staging lanes. Speaking of cool cans, why not make one for the trans? Is there a reason why you don't want a conventional cooler on the car?

I was trying to replace the one I have because they dont want slip on hose connections and being the tight *** that I am the options I have wont work well without major work and fittings and hoses and bla bla bla. So just looking for a cheap route. I dont have much stall and thinking most modern cars you have to drive for maybe 5 mile to get the ****** to temp.

Saltflats is this on the Charger?
If you're only gonna run it as a drag car for now,I'm sure it will be fine with a small coil as you said,or just jumpered like Ric suggested.

No miles means no heat means no problem!:)

Sorry to Hijack the thread but I'd like some clarification on the show portion of the event. I plant on coming up Saturday and Sunday and would like to show the truck in my avatar both days. However it is decidedly not period correct or styled. Do the period rules apply to the show as well? If they do its not a big deal, I'll park with the spectators.
I can't wait to see you guys run. Go North!

Period rules only apply to the drag cars not the car show portion of the meltdown.

The whole point of the car show is to let the folks who do not comply with the racing rules participate in the event. We have 2 more lunatics from Winnipeg Canada willing to tow 16+ hrs one way with their show quality Willys sedan street rod with the express intent of have it sitting in the car show area all weekend (and drive to Sam's). It is wayyy outside the heavily enforced racing guidelines but I expect they will be welcomed with open arms for the car show. I love that concept !

Our current head count from Winnipeg is 9 with the possibility of 11 maing the trek south. (Wow !!)

Was not sure how well a compression fitting would work.
I may have been over thinking it guess I sould get a ****** temp gauge some day and see whats happening. I just was thinking it was never getting to operating temp.
I yes this is the Charger and it will never be a street car as long as I own it.

I work at a Ford dealer and they sent a kit with the reman transmissions to cut the lines and put a filter inline. Most guys never bothered to install them, anyway it was an approved repair by them. I used them on my truck as well to fix some botched trans lines, no problem there either.

I think according to NHRA you can't have a hose too the cooler with hose clamps I could be full af **** no wait I am full of **** but I think thats the way the rule book reads.
I just dont want to be that guy (you know the one that oils down the track) and have a problem I have never had a problem with my setup that I have but thought I would make wright for them.

Ok, I don't have a rule book and didn't realize that. But when I've been teched no one has ever said anything. The cooler I have the factory fittings have some rubber hose that I attached the hard lines to. I use a power steering cooler from a newer truck for my trans cooler. It's over twice the thickness as a nominal size cooler.

Rule book says all lines must be metallic or high pressure-type hose.

High pressure means no hose clamp to me.

Is there still 12" total of rubber hose allowed for connections, etc?
Cause last time I read a rule book it seems to me there was a maximum allowable amount...?

Ok dont laugh but here's what I did I have plenty of room for cam swap. I know its kind of redneck but the hose think is not a worry now.

Now the good news my buddy's were down last night and were talking about buying me a fancy new cooler and some AN fittings with hose and I told them that that fancy cooler would not make my car faster. So I told them if they wanted to buy something for the car a new MSD dist would be a better investment so they him haw around and kicked the tires low and behold I have a brand new dist on its was. HELL YE IMAG0333.jpg AH!!!
