There is the KYANA swap meet every spring (March or April) at the Fairgrounds in Louisville, Ky., there is the swap meet at the NSRA Street Rod Nationals in Aug. same Fairgrounds, and the Model A club of Ky. used to hold a swap meet in the fall at the National Guard Armory up by Cracker Barrel off Crittenden Dr. at same Fairgrounds in Louisville. Find someone with a restored model A near you, and ask him how to put an ad in their chapter newsletter. Are you looking for a running driving car, or project. Sounds like you want a driver you can jump in to.

  5. What's your price range and how far are you willing to drive to look at a car?

I wouldn't say that I was fussy, I'm looking for a running, driving car, preferably a black 28, but i will settle for a 29. It doesn't have to have great interior. I'd like to put a new interior in one. I would like one that's black because my job just doesn't allow me the time to prep and paint an entire car.

I'm looking for one that is between 7k to 10k. If the car is nice and too far for me to drive, i'll call a transport company and have it delivered.

That's awesome!! I did a Model A search using Tempestsearch earlier today and it didn't show either one of those cars..........I found the car. It looked pretty rough for the money he's asking. It needs a total restore. The body did look straight though. I went ahead and sent an email to see what his lowest price would be.

  9. Never, I will repeat this, never buy by color. Buy CONDITION first.
You'll p*** many excellent cars to buy color and probably end up with a mistake.
Over 50 years as a profesional buyer in the retail and wholesale end of the automobile industry taught me this.
Color is impotant I agree but it should not be the end all.
Color is like buying with your ****, not your brain.

I've always wanted to go to the NSRA, but i've never been able to make it. I hear that it's pretty awesome.
I've talked to all of the people I know that own Model A's in my area. There's only about 5 of them running around. They're all older guys in their 70's and none of them belong to any club. I'm not even sure there is a Model A club around here. I'll have to research that further.

Believe me, I know!! I've owned quite a few old cars over the last 25 yrs. I usually buy Mopar muscle cars which can be pretty rusty.
Unless i'm buying "sight unseen", i carry a magnet and a mirror with me when I go look at a car.
I thought it was going to be a fairly easy task to find a black one in good condition. Black is all I used to see, but it's turning out to be quite a chore.
