OK, I am glad I found you guys. I purchased a cheap 54 club coupe project (with bad hood springs). I wont be getting to it till next year but am already thinking about a 390 for it. That's all for now.

Welcome from Oregon. Can't wait to see your project, and good luck with the hood springs. :)

390 might be a tight fit, but would be pretty cool to see. A Ford small block will almost bolt right in if you're looking for an easy swap. Check out the FAQ thread here for some stuff you might find useful.

    Thanks all,
I am just brainstorming engines. I am fairly certain the 239 cruise-o-matic is going to go sometime. 292 might work in the meantime.

390 I have seen a pretty easy fit with the correct headers.
Anyone know if the 2 or 3 hole engine mount or truck/car engine years are preferred for this swap?

Selling my 1960 Fleetwood to make room for this car. I guess I will put it on the sale board soon.
so long from the Motor City.

2 hole mounts from the Y block are the correct mounts for the 390 in 54-56 ford cars. you have to switch them from left side to right side thou and use the rear holes on the block of the 390. It is a tight fit but i am almost done with mine and cant wait to run it. I put a 4spd toploader behind the 390.

Believe some are forgetting one of the cardinal rules of our hobby. Yes the SBF is probably the easiest swap however sixtyspecial is considering an FE instead. Am sure he knows it won't be easy and it won't please everyone. And its been done, not impossible and guys will step up with advise and help him get it done. That ''cardinal rule'' its his car and it only has to please one person and we know who that is. Go for it SS and welcome!

Looking forward to following your build.
