Picked this one up at an antique show last weekend...the box is killer. Would've p***ed on it without the box...
The Model T was my 3rd birthday present. My first memory is picking that Model T hot Rod out at the Gibson's department store. It lived a rough life and probably died quickly and violently. I don't remember what happened to it. Most of my toys did not survive my BB gun obsession that p***ed through a few years later. This one is an eBay replacement. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. BEFORE kids had computer games....the expression on their faces brings back the joy of getting a new hard rubber, steel or iron truck for a birthday present.
Looking for a toy possibly made by Ideal. It was a 3 tier plastic race track maybe 12 inches high and about 16 inches left to right shaped like 2 figure 8 stacked one on top of the other. Two cars would start at the top and they would race downhill in 2 figure 8 patterns to the bottom. The cars were open wheel like a Indy car with a steel ball snapped in place in the middle and underneath car. The ball is what made the car roll down the track. Cars were 3-4 different colors and were about 1 inch long and two small pins would hold car in its own lane. Middle 1960's era. Jeff
Here's a couple I picked up the other day:a 1959 Ford Ranchero dealer promo and a Hasbro Amaze-A-Matics aero Corvette.I'm not sure how many versions of the Hasbro were available;this is the second variation I have. For those not familiar with them,they were an early version of a computer controlled car;the "computer" being a piece of cardboard with a series of notches in both sides that was fed into a slot in the bottom front of the car and when turned on was pulled through by gears;the notches telling the car to turn left or right or go in a circle.I have a set of cards from the first one I bought.
I saw this Nylint/custom hot rod and the Mattel Outhouse today on a shelf in an old **** store....pretty cool. The guy just gave me the Outhouse. He wanted a little too much for the roadster....
Never saw that grill on this model! One on right! Windshield does not have bars either? I had the comet version as a kid!
^^^^I had one something like the one above when I was a kid that said "Old fords never die" on the trunk lid, I found this off topic one like I had also while searching for a pic of that one I had. Like I said I know this is off topic but I bet I wasnt the only one here that snagged one of these off the shelf as a kid.
I haven't looked at this thread for some time now, but I have to say a BIG THANKS to rbantique for this pictures in post 371. I have had one of those Speed King streamliners for years, but is missing the wheels and front fenders, and have up to now not known what they look like. Hopefully I can scratch something together to look half decent now. Thanks again Michael
Here's a neat little Auburn Rubber Co. 1935 Ford coupe I picked up at a not-automotive flea market last Sunday for $4.00 !
