The Super****ers, the self-proclaimed “greatest rock ‘n’ roll band in the world,” will headline the sixth Hot Rod Hula Hop, a two-day event to be held August 8 and 9 in Columbus, OH. Presented by the Kahiki and Kon-Tiki chapters of the Fraternal Order of Moai, the tiki-themed weekend festival features a luau dinner, live music, hot rods and a burlesque show. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Cure CMD. Hot Rod Hula Hop 6 will culminate with a Saturday night performance by The Super****ers, a legendary live band whose new album, “Get the Hell,” has been called “a solid blast of swaggering, amp-stacked rock and roll." This year’s event also celebrates the installation of “George,” the iconic monkey fountain from the former Kahiki Polynesian restaurant, at the Gr*** Skirt Tiki Room in Columbus. On Friday, August 8, Hot Rod Hula Hop will host a luau dinner, live bands and tropical ****tails at the Gr*** Skirt Tiki Room, 105 North Grant Avenue, Columbus. The evening will feature live music by Roland Remington, Francis Llacuna, Apocalypso, and local rockabilly favorite Vegas 66. In the spirit of the famous Kahiki restaurant, a “Mystery Bowl” ****tail auction will benefit Cure CMD. Saturday, August 9, will feature a full day of festivities at Sequoia Pro Bowl, 5501 Sandalwood Boulevard, Columbus. The outdoor event from noon to 5 p.m. will include a hot rod, motorcycle and scooter show with hand-carved trophies, as well as vendors and a variety of food and beverage options. In addition, there are 32 bowling lanes and outdoor sand volleyball courts. The ticketed indoor event at Sequoia Pro Bowl, from 5 p.m. to closing, will feature a burlesque show by The Ooh-La-Las, and live music by The Coffin Daggers, The Cryptocats, Righteous Buck & the Skull Scorchers and The Super****ers. Tickets are $50 for the Friday night luau - including dinner, bands and gratuity -- at the Gr*** Skirt. A separate ticket for only the outdoor bands at the Gr*** Skirt is $10. Tickets are $35 for the Saturday night music and burlesque extravaganza at Sequoia Pro Bowl. Public admission for the Saturday car show and vendor event is free. Car show registration is $5.
