This is my recent purchase. 1956 Ford Fairlane Victoria it is a barn find it belonged to an 83 year old man who originally bought it brand new in 1956, He stored it in the old family barn in 1968. It is a 312 Y block motor and it still runs. Body is perfect except for the hood and I can fix that all the chrome work is there. Has original ***le. I already know exactly what I am going to do it. Cost to me 1500.00
proof that there are still good finds out there! pretty good price for a hardtop with a running engine still in it~ good catch!
As 62rebel says that's a great find, a one owner car and basically still complete with a running 312. I thought that the 312 didn't come out until '57? Doesn't look too bad considering it's been parked for 46 years.
It has the right trim on the fender to be a 312 not that a logo on the fender makes the engine but I bet it is. It is the sister to my first car. It takes me back in time to then... Way to go on the find and purchase.
Great find, and just the era for some really nice two-tone paint schemes. I'd just get it safe to drive and enjoy it for awhile, then figure out its future.
Good find. Its funny I like the side trim on a 56 better but I like the front of a 55 better. Cl***y cars either way.
I will probably do a rebuild on it and post updates here. Right now I am doing a build on a 34 Dodge pickup. So this rebuild is not scheduled for awhile. But like a car builder I have everything planned for this build and Thank you Hamb for helping me build cars.
312 came out in 56 in Mercury and TBirds. VERY few cars got 312s near the end of production run. M code in VIN is 292. P code is 312. Both used the same Thunderbird fender emblem as 292 was the 55 TBird engine.
gonna be NICE gOOD find! here's a 55 w a 56 front clip ---- annnd behIND it -- a 56 w a 55 front clip [ liketa mess w minds I do ] only hadta change the front fender stainless trim to makem work
