Hey guys, I'm looking for some suggestions and pics of other '55 - '57 Trucks for different wheels. I will be keeping the same size tires 205/65-15's in Front on 15" x 6" and 255/60-15's on 15" x 7" out back. Currently I am running a set of Chevy Ralley Wheels that look Ok, I am just looking for something that would look better with this current, 1980's home painted flames and faded black paint... lol Because of the current "flat" paint job on the truck, I was thinking of going with a cast finish Rocket Wheel something like below. Any suggestions would be great.
those would work, ive built many a chevy pickups from years 53-68. I had some halibrand style ones on my 68 that looked good. they had knockoff covers too. those magnesium colored ones you have picked out are cool. i just wished they would have left those damn fake rivets off... dig the style though..
You have already made a pretty good choice, actually. I think I would go with the Igniter between the two. The Slot mags that Squirrel posted would be another great choice as well. Were it my truck, what ever I did decide on would be in a high polish though rather than as cast. When you hang rough, no shine wheels on cars that have flat paint and minimal flash, they just start to make everything look dirty. Something shiny kept clean and shiny makes it look like you are a bit more serious about the truck.
pull the beauty rings off, put on a set of flat caps,5 bucks worth of spray paint. keep the rallys. Here it comes........
Here's shop hub cap options that would look good on the truck Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
steelies. Newer 6 lug truck wheels, from the 70s, that use the modern style hupcaps (not the rally wheel style). 6" front, 8" rear. 56 chevy car hupcaps.
Years may be off but some pics I had saved. Maybe it will get the wheels spinning.... No pun intended
Not wheels but a set of caps you probably won't see too often. 61 electra caps with bullets added to allow clearance for the wheel hub.
^^^^school me on the fender bracket. Is it used to cradle lumber or pipe? Like the Electra caps also.
I like the steel rallye rims. Maybe paint them gloss black? try them with/without the trim rims for a different look?
The old slots just seem to look rite at home on these old trucks and the rocket injector you are looking at has the old slot look and would probably give your old pickup more of a down and dirty sinister look but you better keep in mind if you decide to paint the truck, are the wheels you choose now gonna go with the look you want then. If it were me I would probably want to spend my money on at least a cheap uniform paint job first, losing the touch up places and the flames but thats just me, I will probably still like it whatever you decide. Not suggesting em for your truck at all but US mag still makes the old school slots, others may too, Im not sure.
Sorry not trying to hijack! Motoandy, Gail was built to lay gas lines. Pass side is all setup to carry, cut and thread pipe. Thanks on the caps spent many hours of obsessing. Devil was in the detail on that one for me.
