FLATHEADS FOREVER......
I think I saw in a magazine a Flathead with Harley knuckle head heads adapted to it or some heads that looked similar. Maybe I'm just dreaming up **** ?
Here are two I like. I intend to do the same as one of these ($$$ being the factor) except in green like my body color.
If were gonna get that technical then toss anything but finned heads! I took it as any modified flathead motor.
any dressed up flat head is the ****! even though I'm putting a 371 olds in my model A, I went back and forth choosing between the 2 for a month before I decided to run the 371, seeing these pics now, I'm almost wishing I went with the flat head.
I like this one beating a 57 chevy http://s31.photobucket.com/albums/c371/chonga311/?action=view¤t=RaceWeek2232008013.flv
No pic but there is nothing better looking than the Adams Moller OHV flattie. CT automotive were gods!
Here you go. There were alot of cool ohv conversions, I like um all. lets see if there are any negative comments about this.
Nothing beats a Flat head flathead for good looks when dressed up. Nothing beats a OHV-converted flathead for good looks when dressed up whether it is ARDUN or the several others. But don't get started on Nailheads, Chrysler, Dodge, DeSoto Hemis, Chevy W-motors either.
My latest flatty is in the works, 3 7/16x4 1/8 with all old parts, no 1-800-flathead stuff here. NOS potvin 425 eleminator cam, Hotton-Sullivan heads, mcculloch on top with an almquist Y and two 48s, Vertex mag with a angle drive, webber flywheel. Lotta years hording parts to get this combo. Will post pics of the ***embly.
For my money all flathead V8's and 4cyd's are great looking motors. I'll post some pictures soon of my completed motor......................hopefully sitting in the Coupe.
My flathead in 1949. I've never seen anymore L&S heads and manifolds since. They were out of Los Angeles as I remember.
Here is mine.. not pretty yet.. but getting that big Lincoln V12 setup with the webers in my 1950 F1 is going to be nice. I mocked up a car with the 8BA that I was going to use, then I found the lincoln, so that's going in there now.. same overall setup though. And I agree with the earlier posters, a flathead with an OHV conversion is not a flathead, it's a cool engine, but not a flathead.
Hey Johnnyv, Rolling down this thread checking out the flatties and stopped to admire this clean looking mill on post #22. And SHAZAM! It be you John! I've seen that rig before! Hope to see it again this coming season....................Maby cruze on down to VZD's for a cool one when I get on the road...............
