I would like to know how much clearance is required to fit a v8 engine in a t coupe with a stock wheel base. Are their any reference builds I can follow?

My 27 t has a 109" wheel base with a flat firewall and a 49 olds engine. Gary

Stock wheelbase on a Ford Model T is 100".

And so it's more common to go fender less and extend the wheel base or full fendered with longer hood?

Stock hood length on a T is 28", small block Chevy with a short pump is around 29". With a stock hood your firewall would have to recess about 4" from the cowl line. Do a picture search online, lots of examples.

I know this is a 2 month old thread.

I am building a '27 Coupe, full fendered, with a 392 Hemi in it, and keeping the stock wheel base & firewall.
Here are a couple of T Coupes with stock wheel base, and stock firewalls, and a hemi.

The pictured examples do have the stock wheelbase but the radiator and frame have been extended to accomodate the bigger engine.

thanks. I plan on reversing my firewall soon and we will see how much additional clearance will be needed. I plan to run stock hood and wheel base

I can't say about the blue one, but I know the roadster was not changed, I have talked to him about it. I have checked the opening on mine, and it will fit without change, as I'm putting a 392 in my Coupe.

Pat, would really appreciate some pics as I am installing a SBC in my T Tudor and would like to see some ideas for modifying the T firewall.
    Thanks
