Just purchased 48 dodge 3 window coupe. What to do? I would like to keep it Mopar. Will anything subframe under it. Someone mentioned a early 90's Dakota pickup with a 318. Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks

    Welcome to HAMB.

I am building a 47 3 window coupe with a 383 big block. Small blocks are defenitely cheaper and easier to put in. Tex smith has a great book on building mopars. It's out of print and about $75 - $100 on ebay. I lucked out and found one at a swap.

A small block will fit easily it you build it like Ma Mopar always did and offset the engine to the passenger side by an inch or so. You should clear the steering box that way. I think small block dart exhaust manifold will clear the steering column also. Feel free to PM me and I can try to dig up the book and look a few things up for you.

circus bear is right i put a 440 in my 48 3 window used a passenger exhaust manifold for the driver side so the dump is in the front and set the motor center and 3 inches back on custom motor mounts on a k frame

I got a 53 with a Dakota sub frame. It lines up nice. Check out fargo52's build he gave me the idea. Good luck and have fun
