Projects 1941 chevy coupe frame

    any body know what I can do to make the frame stronger on a 1941 chevy coupe and who has parts to do this with with out spending big bucks

    I want to be able to run a high performance motor with out jacking up the frame the first time I step on the gas

    Just add some beef to it...... this was for a 40 I built.

  5. What are you going to put in it for a motor, something straight out of a Nascar stock car or something?

  8. I bet it's one of those 235 sixes I've been hearing about.... really mean motors straight from factory. :D

    Ok wise guy we are going with a big block Chevy I took out the 235 its for sale you need it you seam pretty interested

    A full roll cage will stiffen the frame a lot, and add safety if you are going racing. If you plan on that much power the front suspension and rear suspension will have to go. If you are going that far, you might as well build a whole new frame or have one built.
     
  11. The biggest thing is what is the purpose of the car... taking down the strip, just street, cross country cruise? Basic would be box frame and a DOM K-members, and other members, with mustang II it would be stiff enough and a nice street car... strip add more DOM and a cage.

    Build an X member from either pressed channel or source one from a late thirties thru late '50's Buick or Pontiac and adapt it to your frame rails. Properly done, an X member is one of the best torsional strength forms for your purposes. It may require some floor mods for clearance, but one thing often leads to another. There are no free lunches.

    Thanks guys ideas is what I needed and were to look well the search is on if any body thinks of anything else please let me know,I am going with a big motor cause I like the power and sound of a big block motor and the look yes I may go to the drag strip do I need a big block motor maybe not but this is all for fun right at least it is for me
