Neither .Rain nor cold nor snow nor wind nor broken bone or cut finger has strayed me away from my dream. Last night .. I did something I have been dreaming about for literally 35 years. I went to the fridge found a tall cold brown bottle in there grabbed an easy chair and made a trip to the garage whereas I sat down, lit my pipe propped my feet and enjoyed my 68 degree furnace heated garage. Ground was broken for this about 5-6 weeks ago now. With a lot of help from friends and family I got my birthday present. a 24 x 38 garage with 11 ft ceilings and a loft on top of the two bay side. The work bay is 20 x 24 alone. The idea was to copy the wash house here behind the house.Thats the building in the backgound. It has real 6 inch tongue and groove and will follow the same color scheme as the wash house. Its a framed pole building, insulated from the rafters to the concrete. A 100 amp box feeds (45) 110 volt receptacles (half is in the work bay) J and two 220 volters. I traded my friend Matt for the 90% efficient furnace so it was almost a freebee. Installed in the upper loft for floor space. The roof material is a compressed fiber said to last some 30 odd yrs..lightweight and gives plenty of ventilation. Next . is to finish the drywall and then finally bring in my tools, get a lift, and then start my 34 pickup. Sometimes life is good excuse me while I make another trip to the fridge and fill my bowl with tobacco that is.. . Thanks to Geiser and Youngbuck and Chevygirlrox here on the hamb and Matt, the non computer owner who is more hamb then some I know. Sorry, I just had to share my exitement but From now on..I promise..the only pics you'll see of this place is when a project is in the forground... Happy PJ This is a close up of the wash house..
For a guy it's hard to beat a new shop. Looks like yours turned out super. Now get busy with the projects so you can share them with the rest of us. Frank
That's awesome. I hope you already have your HAMB calendar nailed to the wall. You've only got 20 days left Mr January. Congrats. I'm jealous.
thats a multi-unit dwelling that brings in good income... Hell they always say to invest in real estate.
I really like that building...really like that barnish style to it, goes well with the house, etc. I like those garage doors too with those cross brace designs. Very nice, hope you get lots of enjoyment out of your new shop.
W.O.W. (Way Out Wild) Congratulations!!! Now don't let the beer freeze going from the house to the shop.
Nice shop.My garage is the same size as one of those birdhouses!Still,at least I`ve got a garage. No more welding on the street!
Congrats, buddy! .....looking really good...... You know, I don't know which I enjoy more, sitting next to my coal stove on a cold day staring at my projects or working on them....... I don't know how I ever worked out in the driveway......cold/hot, lost tools, stop work at dark, rain, etc...... When I get the roadster on the road, my first priority is to finish the electrical in the garage, run cable, internet, phone, and really turn it into a place to hang out..... Keep us posted....show us some inside pics... We're gonna try out that bed and breakfast some day!
Well you come on over and the nights on me! But the breakfast is expensive as all getout. Thank you everyone. Its so great to share my happiness with such good friends! Sorry I haven't been on much.... I've been trying to get those damn garage doors to work right. I even sweated in there tonight. Inside pics with the project pickup coming soon! PJ
Good for you, nice work. I wish my shop would have preceded that quickly. Im still in the process of building mine. My timeline looks like this. 9/1/04-Filed for a building permit 1/4/05-Received building permit after the local autocracy amended it to death (I ended up having to build smaller that I wanted because of some f@$ks in city hall) 5/30/05-all concrete work finally done, (its mid April around here before you can pour) 9/05/05-finally got my own framing crew gathered up to frame it up 11/15/05-my garage door person finally hung the doors 1/12/06-still trying to appease local building inspectors so I can close the damn permit! The finished product is shaping up into something real nice. I wont build as much as Fu@%ing dog house in this town ever again!
Very nice. I did a metal roof on mine and it was the right way to go except during thunderstorms........ Mine is 36x26 and I had to pitch the roof front & back ,so this year I had to install snow guards to keep the snow on the roof and out of my driveway. They work pretty good.
