Jstorms post got me thinking. I recently got my hands on a model a cowl and just wondering who else started here and where did ya go with it? Pics would be cool too.

  2. The '23 cowl top will be the only stock body part on my modified. You can see it here in my rendering/design drawing. Everything else will be formed .040" aluminum over a "birdcage" tubular space frame.

Oh, yeah....I have '23 windshield mounting brackets too. They will be cut and re-welded to lean 'em back 15 degrees.

The roadster was a cowl and 1 door. The rest was bent with only hand tools, a harbor frieght bead roller and a hammer. The truck was a 4 door cowl, and doors. The rest was made with a 1967 ford truck, and the tools listed above.

This started as a $10 swap meet cowl, tank and firewall.
The rest is 1" square tubing, bent 16 guage floor cross members, a lot of solid Oak and red vinyl

Great post ideaI was wondering the same thing. I want to build a 28 modified rpu. I've chickened out on 2 cowls from Ebay cause I haven't wanted to "start another project I'll never finish" as my friends would say.

Gotta get dad's DeVille out of my garage so I can stop dreaming and start building.

The infamous Lunar lander started as just a cowl and some doors to be s****ed later. I remember going to plowbooty's house and saying someting like " what the **** is this ****?" And then something like " you're ****ing nuts if you think that's gonna look like that picture!" Look who's the idiot now, I've learned to not doubt the creativity of a cornbred hillbilly with homo***ual tendicies. It just goes to show that with some tools and alot of beer you can make anything, and alot of talent. I love you plowstud!

This started as a 30-31 cowl. As you can see it was switched to a 28-29 mid way through the build though.

I love the whole car, but I really like the way you mounted those Caddy lights.

Dad's last project was a cowl and some ****ty sedan doors. At some point there was/is some factory sheetmetal in the corners, but they came off a different car.

Here are some of the in-progress shots of the 27 T cowl we started with on the Barbarian. Also included is a finished photo in front of the hotel at last years HAMB Drags.

  27. any pics of what can be done with a 25 T cowl?? Preferably a modified? I have one laying around and have been wondering what to do with it.

the dimensions and shape are kind of weird. Also the underhood are is kind of narrow which can make the engine look weird.

  29. ...cool, all kinds of various build ups and syles, keep em comin' !

I bought a '29 cowl of e-*** which I never got to lay my hands on in real life, money went bye bye.....and I learned a valuable lesson. Well, second try turned out better and now I'm a proud owner of one and collecting some parts before the project kicks off.....

This started out with a 27 T cowl. It would have been easier to start with sheet metal since it was narrowed and modified.
