Well it turns out my 1953 8ba flathead block is toast it has a crack down the inlet and can't be repaired. I can get a French flathead engine with a guarantee but the French engines were based on the 35 to 48 block so my 4speed transmission won't fit my questions are :- 1/ dose the early 3 speed bolt up directly to the French block 2/ dose anyone have or know of anyone who has a workable 8ba engine or block in the uk for sale please PM me. 3/ if I can't get a replacement flathead what are my best options regard engine. & transmission + engine mounting thanks in anticipation . Dose anyone know anything about the French flathead engines I'm thinking of going down that route also about suitable gearboxes. Since the crash I can't reply to posts on my iPad only only phone ? Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
That's just what I did and have bought a French flathead + Ali heads etc from him thanks for the tip he's a top bloke. The truck is coming along nice, chassis all painted /all new brakes fitted/new shocks fitted. The cab is now sat on the chassis and have started on the bodywork I've cut out the side panels ready for new replacements. Next week I will cut out the cab corners and will replace with new. Here are some pics of progress. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
