I'm getting ready to subscribe to TRJ. In fact, I'm running a campaign against conglomerates. It's time to start backing "the little guys".
My last issue came 7-17-14, looking at the address label my subscription is paid up till 7-15. Should I be looking for a refund or one of their other rags? ..........................Jack
I'm sure it will go a well as when they absorbed Custom Rodder. Hot Rods, street rods, old school customs and the ***orted late model ('55 and later) seems like a mix that will please no one. The last issue of R&C was great! Certainly shows what we will miss. www.hotrodartwork.com
Got mine yesterday also. After reading it I felt like I had lost an old friend. Yep I will probably go with TRJ myself................................
I called subscription services today as I have one until july 2016. They said my subscription balance was transferred to Street Rodder Mag. I said no way....she talked to her supervisor and I switched it to Hot Rod Deluxe. Too bad they didn't send out options to subscribers to choose where they wanted their $ to go.
Yep, the last issue was one of the best in a long time. I guess because I love 33-34's. But anyway, I too wish it weren't happening. Tim
Mine came today & of course the post office managed to put about 1 inch tears at the bottoms of pages 55 thru 70 - not the 1st time that has happened - it will add to the memory how the post office managed to screw up so many of my Rod & Customs (the junk mail always makes it thru just fine though) -
I'm glad I contacted them early. I already received a check for nearly $60.00. I swiched years ago when Custom Rodder went dark. They have nothing worth switching to now. Who knows how long Hot Rod Deluxe or even Hot Rod will be around. Don't let them push you around.
Bought mine from the local, small bookstore/news stand we have here. No creased, torn or parts of missing pages on it. I'll put this one in plastic and lay it flat so it will stay that way.
Odd... another one of my favorite issues was the "farewell issue" in the early 70's with the red pickup on the cover. Not sure where I'm headed yet, still waiting to see what they fill out my subscription with.
Yes, the last one was special to me. My old 33 roadster had a nice spread with the new owners. I knew they had done a feature but didn't think it would make the cut. I purchased some extra copies for my library.
I called subscription services yesterday and was told the balance of my paid subscription would be transferred to Street Rodder. I said no way.......and after being on hold for a couple of minutes while she talked to her supervisor they transferred it to Hot Rod Deluxe as per my request.
Some of you are gonna flame me for what I'm about to write, but I gotta say it, and if nothing else, with over 70 yrs. as a licensed driver and more than that as a hot rodder and gearhead, I think I have a right to say this: I too am unhappy on the demise of R&C, and it's currently the mag I'm reading when I'm "on the throne". I also subscribe to Street Rodder and Hot Rod. I like the tech articles in both, and they once in awhile feature a car that would be appropriate here on HAMB. There are ***holes in DC that would like to crush ALL our Hot Rods, and Customs, etc. and put us all in a damn Prius! And if we all sit around throwing rocks back and forth at other guys in other parts of our hobby, yes even the rice burners and the sporty car guys, they'll one day be successful. IMO, it's time we cut out all the BS and accepted that not all gearheads like what we like, and join forces to fighjt these ***holes in DC that have already put the screws to us bit by bit with **** like ethanol, etc. GROW UP DAMMIT!!!!!!!!!!!
Mine was was waiting for me when I got home yesterday. No mangled pages etc., just set it on the table. Don't know if I should read it, or get it bronzed. Any one have some back issues they'd like to sell? I could use everything up to when Too Tall brought it back. It will be missed.
