I know some HAMBers out there are familiar with these, just curious if the pet**** valve shown in the picture is reverse threaded into the bib (I'm sure it has a real name). Can't find any mention of this part in the manual. It sends coolant from the water pump to the heater hose. I have a leak where the pet**** attaches to the bib, not where the bib goes into the motor. I tried tightening it but it didn't budge Water bib.JPG so before I put my weight behind it I wanted to see if it was reverse threaded... Thanks

I never had one that was reverse threaded, so I bet not! Gary

I believe the old right to tight is the correct way. HRP

HRP and Gary are correct, standard thread it is! After a little thread tape and tightening I reinstalled the bib. Fired it up and it still leaks :(

Upon close inspection I see the leak is actually coming from the threads of the pet**** stem itself, just outside the nut.... Perplexed on a solution here

It's an add-on valve. The packing is under the br*** nut - shimming or repacking will fix it ...

You won't find that in the manual, since it's not an original part. Someone added it.

I just run a normal Chevy fitting that doesn't have a valve.

Makes sense guys, looks like it's gonna take a trip to NAPA tomorrow to square it away. Thanks for all the replies, I swear this thing will be on the road before summers end!!

Replaced the valve with a standard stem, no more leak. Thanks for the wisdom fellas!
