Technical BF Goodrich vs. Firestone bias ply tires - preference?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Carbs & Chrome, Jul 20, 2014.

  1. Looking to buy either a new set of BFGs or Firestones. I searched the board and really didn't find a reason, but it seems more people are running Firestones. Is one better than / preferred over the other?

  2. Also if there is a good thread on this already I would settle for just a link instead of a bunch of "reposted" replies. Thanks.

  3. I don't know of a thread although there probably is,it seems there is multiple threads on everything.

But as far as which one is preferred over the other I would think it would depend on sizes. HRP

I think "stones" are more popular...

  5. I know they seem to be more popular, but is there a reason why?

Rubber compounds are the same now since Coker has bought all the molds. So it's just sizes and appearances that makes a difference.

That's right: tread pattern and sidewall logo is the only difference since they are made in the same factory with the same process by the same workers.

I ran Firestone on the front and Goodyear on the rear as they're the only one who had the rear tire size that I wanted. As already stated, they seem to be the same in construction and performance.

  10. Have had both BFG's and Firestones first on my 49 Ford coupe ... I prefer the look on the Firestone over the BFG. The side wall looks better. It's just my 2 cents worth

I'm running bias US Royals from Coker & have zero complaints. I found a set of front/rear I preferred over the other mfrs, mostly aesthetics. They balanced easily & I have no vibration or tracking issues.

Same compound.....how many miles before they go bald?

  13. Thanks for all the input guys. It really just sounds like it's personal preference more than ones a better product over the other.
