Technical Grommet placement on 1957 Ford 223 valve cover/pushrod pan

    In my attempt to get the '57 F-100 on the road again I ask my self little questions like:
    Which way do the new grommets go on the refinished valve cover? I'm ***uming out side (on top) the cover, rubber side to the cover and metal side to the nut...in order to generate a seal. It was originally missing both the ones on the valve cover and the push rod cover and was a hot oily mess...I can't seem to find a good photo reference for this...any have an opinion?

    AHHH, many thanks...all this technology at my fingertips and didn't think to check the Google. I appreciate the help.
