I have a 66 Plymouth Fury (i know not hamb friendly) with a 318 Poly. I have a new/rebuilt power steering pump that has very few miles on it and was working fine. I had the starter go bad and had to manually push it around to get it into a workable spot. Now the power steering pump is not working. Any suggestions to a fix or a root cause??

Yea, trade for a 1965 or earlier Plymouth.

Sorry. The devil made me do it. I can't see how the power steering pump whent out if the engine wasn't running. I'd return it if it is new. Son had a replacement pump on his Oooops Chevy go out too. Maybe made in China is not so good.
Yes an honest question. But does that mean we have to explain why a 2014 Prius computer does not compute?

STH72719.JPG I have an ot 66 Plymouth myself and when I'm up against I to have asked questions and hope to get an honest answer and not flamed. I have owned mine for over 35 years and it only has 68k miles on it and wouldn't trade it for anything . But there are still things I have to ask about at times and just want a traditional, lol type of answer not a bunch of sarcasm because it is 1 year to new

I'm sorry I don't have a car that meets the year criteria. I'm sorry I'm a young punk kid that found a car he liked and could afford to enjoy this hobby. I'm sorry I don't know everything and figure it out myself. I'm sorry you felt you had to respond with your rambling crap. Here does this help, my car is a 65 fury, they have the same damn motor. Does that make you happy because you have no idea what I really have do you. Fine everyone it's a 65 to make Model T happy.

Now if someone wants to help me I would appreciate the support.

  8. is the pump seized? is the front shaft loose/broken? ok here's a dumb one.. is there any fluid in it? these aren't rocket science. Hoses pinched or kinked? was it rebuilt locally or was it a reman?..so... you pushed the car around without the engine running/power steering pump stationary?..need detailed info..

It's not seized, no kinks, it's not slipping, rebuilt by Lares in MN. Everthing is as it should be. Its the federal,TRW pump that mopar used if that helps. Moved the car without it running due to starter failure so pump was not turning

If you pushed the car by hand, and turned the steering wheel, there is a chance a speck of crud got jammed under a pressure relief valve. Start the motor and turn the steering wheel left and right to see if you can clear it. Otherwise, call Lares. They are good people, they will stand behind it, or tell you how to remove the valve and clear it.

I tried the turning thing, basically did the bleed proceedure and drove it around with no success. I agree Lares has good people, they had to fix the relief valve in it once already.

Goob333 I have a '65 Satellite (not a '66 lol). My question is in the "bleed" procedure did you turn wheel all the way to the stops?
