Event Coverage Canada Wish Cruise update

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by RetroSteel, Jul 27, 2014.

  1. Here is a pic taken today of our homebuilt '28 Ford Roadster at C**** Beach on Vancouver Island. We leave early tomorrow on our coast to coast adventure across Canada. We are raising awareness & monies for the Make A Wish charity of Canada. It is inspired by our grand daughter , Marley who had brain surgery in Edmonton, Alberta. Make A Wish made her wish come true.
I read Dave Schaub's story about driving his '32 Roadster for Ronald MacDonald House in California by driving 49 states in 9 days and two years later, 49 states, 8900 miles in 7 days 14 hours! (solo @ age 62!) My wife Joan & me will be taking our time with a 12-16 days to go across and 7 - 10 days to get back from Halifax, Nova Scotia. Aprox. 6500 KM each way!
Check it out at www.canadawishcruise.ca and there is a link to Facebook where you can see daily updates and a link to Google Earth.

Made some rear fenders from used stock 28 / 29 fenders. Used modified stock fender braces which mount to a bracket welded to rear end housing. These fenders float over the rear tires.

Looks like you are having a great trip. Sorry to have missed you on the way through Edmonton. Maybe I can catch you on the way back, unless you take a different route :)

Sounds like a fun trip Mo. Will this be covered in a feature article in an upcoming magazine?

Why don't you make a left turn in Calgary and come on down to Arizona again? It's only a little warm right now.

  20. We made to our final destination today. 2 years ago this was just a thought. I built the roadster, worked with Make A Wish, got sponsors, It has been the trip of a lifetime and would tell anyone reading this. Don't be afraid to get out and drive your hot rod And if you you can help a charity also, there is Nothing Better! ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1407971834.132202.jpg

Cool, glad to see the top is functional. Keep us updated on the progress of your trip. I was riding in a roadster today, a buddy of mine here in Edmonton and I were out running around in his bright orange 27 RPU.

A great day, I was loving every minute of it.

Just wondering why you didn't do all ten provinces?

  28. We would have loved to visit Newfoundland! But as we still work full time we just did'nt have the time off, as it would have added another week. In 1912 Port Alberni B.C. where're we started our cruise was Mile 0 and Halifax was end of the Trans Canada Highway.
