There are fools, old fools and damned fools. I am a member of all three groups.

I pulled the dash out of my 69 Fairlane last Fall as part of a total rewire and paint job.

Some health issues kept me out of the garage for several months and now that I'm ready to put the dash back in, my memory has failed and I can't get it to line up.

There are only two openings on each end of the dash that could take bolts, one round and one oblong. There are two spots on each side of the car that could accept bolts, one oblong and one with a boxed nut. I can't get the dash openings to align with either. The problem seems to be how to get the dash and the column supports correctly positioned.

I just spent a whole day trying every position I could think of. I've had the column supports in and out seems like a dozen times. No Joy!

Can anybody give me a clue? This one has me over the proverbial barrel.

    Thanks in advance,
    Dick

Forget the request. I figured it out. Was trying to put dash on the colunm support when it goes between the pieces of the support.

  3. Glad it worked out for you. I've often found that when I get frustrated as Hell with some project, just walk away for a while, or sleep on it, and have a whole new perspective when you try it again.:)

That's what happened. I slept on it and th next morning it came to me that I should reverse the process - dash first then the supports. Live and learn.
