Picking up parts little by little as I go along. Think I might have settled on what I want to do with the interior. Put her in storage for the winter while I work on my son's '75 Camaro to get it ready for sale in the spring. Keep watching....
Looks much better without the flame job which I agree with you did not do anything for the car. Keep up the great work because you have it looking very cool. Jimbo
Thanks Jimbo! Stay tuned! The transformation will be amazing (although slow). Sent from my Samsung Galaxy IIIs using H.A.M.B. mobile app
Got the Model A axle sandblasted. While it turned out OK, it's just not good enough for this project. I'll see if I can't sell it to someone for a rat rod project and continue looking for another. I may do the interior, bodywork and paint now so I can drive it a bit this year and gasser-ize it next winter.....
Talked to the painter/body guy yesterday. Will be taking the '55 in at the end of the month for the bodywork and for paint. India Ivory over Shadow Gray. While it is being painted, I'll send the seats out for upholstery. White tuck 'n' roll with gray piping. Should have it back sometime in May. I can then pull the engine/tranny and put my 327/700R4 combo in. Hoping I will be able to find another Model A axle and wishbone so I can do the front end. Getting psyched!!!!
Just picked up another Model A front axle with split wishbones, spring perches, backing plates, tie rod, etc. VERY nice! Will send out for sandblasting and powder coating soon. Also talked to Mike Chilando at Alkydiggers and he told me how to plumb the mfi from the stock gas tank to the moon tank using a Holley Red and a Holley float bowl attached to the moon tank . I'll be taking it to the body shop next Monday and the seats into the upholsterer after that. We be movin'!
Dropped her off at the body shop yesterday. Seats going into the upholstered next week. Stay tuned..... Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Subscribed. I know it seems odd that I'd reply with this photo. But that there makes me want to change the color on my 56 to that of Gold.
It's a pretty color, no doubt. My buddy painted his '40 Chevy gasser a special gold mix. Looks GREAT in the sunlight! Sent from my SCH-I535 using H.A.M.B. mobile app
OK.... So it's been in the body shop for a few weeks now (several weeks of inactivity). It's going to need quarters and rockers but not much more than that for right now. He said it will be a few more weeks. My son and his fiance want to use it in their wedding mid-July. Here are a couple pics.....
Still not used to posting pics to the new forum but....... OK! Here she is..... Not gasser-ized yet but much improved (I think)!
Thanks, everyone, for the positive feedback! The Ivory White/Shadow Gray is a tribute to the first car I remember my parents having. Will post pics of interior when it's finished....
Johnk320, Not to be a whiner, but how about some bigger pics of the new paint job? The ones you posted are a smidge smaller than the paper label of a beer bottle, on my screen. Gotta56forme/Scott
Gotta56... When I tried to post the pics in their native size I got an error message stating they were too large. That's why I had to make them smaller. I'll see what I can do.... Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Sounds very much like what I did with mine in 68' and you nailed it with the trading the experience!!
