Remember that one? Here's some shots taken from the 32 on my way home from the west Yellowstone Rod Run this weekend
Dang! As much as I'm always scared about hitting a deer, I imagine one of those guys could do some serious damage.
Saw a photo of a 47 Ford coupe-v-moose in Canada. The moose won! Occupants were luckier than the moose. Car was trashed!
"Herds so large, they covered the land scape. When they moved, the earth shook in their wake." Biographer during the Lewis & Clark Expedition Majestic, is about the only word that applies to these beautiful creatures.
You, sir, are truly blessed. I'm into hot rods, as a distraction to this hectic life we all lead. But sometimes, a person has to slam on the brakes and just marvel at the natural things that surround us. There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, Than are dreamt of in your philosophy. - Hamlet (1.5.167-8), Hamlet to Horatio
All ya gotta do is pout your mind to it, Knuckle down, buckle down, do it, do it, do it. Roger Miller was one of my favorites. Died way too young, at 45.
It wasn't so much the buffalo, last year, when we left the Yellowstone Rod Run as we were heading UP TO Red Lodge....it was the tourists that decided to stop right in the roadway and get out of their cars...effectively blocking BOTH lanes of travel...had to be on the lookout for those that have never seen a buffalo. Almost got nailed in the p***enger's side door by one idiot simply pulling out from the highway's edge...!!! The buffalo were too busy eating to pay any attention to tourists...too bad it doesn't work the other way around... R-
You should take in Cruzin Red Lodge car show. My home town show and nostalgia drags,it's a week before West Yellowstone
Yup, came through Yellowstone last summer, didn't get to see much, 'cause I had to watch out for the idiots full time! Buffalos are such a docile looking creature, but when they feel that their young are threatened, Katie bar the door! Speaking of hitting things, a couple of years ago, I was driving home after an evening out with my wife when we came upon a car dead in the road with no lights on. (well after dark) I pulled up behind it and not seeing anyone in the car figured I better investigate. I grabbed a flashlight and walked up to the drivers door, (front of the car is badly trashed) I shine the light in the car and here is a chick laying across the seats curled up in the fetal position, sobbing! I ask if she is OK and she looks at me as if I'm from a different planet, so hysterical she can't talk coherently. I finally realize she is trying to ask me why her car exploded. (airbags) I finally got her calmed down enough to get her out of the car and show her the hair in what was left of her grille. She never saw the black bear!
Last time I went to the Red Lodge run I drove over Bear Tooth P***. Got snowed in over the week end and had to go home by way of Cody. I believe that was in mid June back then.
I came so close to hitting a buffalo in Yellowstone a few years back that one wiped a clean spot down the side of the truck. the last I saw of him was his head looking over the front fender and my wife saw his head at her window. We couldn't believe that somehow we missed hitting one. I had to go between two of them as the small herd came up out of a low spot where we couldn't see them
I had one come out of a little gulley yesterday never stopped when he saw me coming just strolled right out on the hiway like he owned it.I guess he does ! Wouldn't been good on the original 32 shell and grill
Me too! It also brought up a memory of a Sunday drive when that song was playing on the radio so it isn't all bad.
I just got back from the 2200 mile journey from Northern MN to Yellowstone and back. What an awesome trip! WARNING: this thread contains images of a street rod which may be disturbing to some HAMBers! Yes, when it comes to family vacations, the comfy old sedan with to good air conditioning wins every time! The drive through Beartooth p*** to 11,000 feet was incredible. The park scenery - especially with all the rods cruising - was killer. The Yellowstone run folks do a great job and I sure hope they keep it going. Here's a few pics: Snow in August....
