Hello I joined earlier this year when I purchased 2, 1949 baby lincolns that had been sitting in the ground since 1952 in Iowa. I continue to try and get correct paperwork for these cars since the ***les are both lost and my state is giving no ***istance. The current build body even has the last license plate that was issued and still no gain. I was informed by a friend saying that his 1953 Motor Manual states that the vin tag is attached to the dash but I see no plate, or where one could have been. Does anyone own one of these cars that might be able to help me find a number? All I have at the moment is 2 bills of sale stating no vin present. One way in this state, is to use a bill of sale of one body and then join it with another car that has a ***le, then a reconstructed ***le can be issued with a generated tag from the D.O.T. The Lincoln build in progress is chopped and channeled over a 2007 P71 police interceptor rolling ch***is with a clear Illinois ***le, which would end up possibly being tagged as a 2014 Lincoln. I would also like to know the directions for posting pictures so that I can share the progress so far on rebuilding the body which is getting close to not looking any thing like it was when originally constructed. Thanks, Randy
Should be under the hood on the drivers side firewall just to the left of the hood hinge. I can double check on mine but its out at the storage lot. Take a look and let us know. Bob V.
This is from "Chilton's Auto Repair Manual 1940-1953"....you might have to do some acrobatic neck-straining maneuvers to see them..... (I have the whole page in pdf format which shows some additional engine specs, etc if you'd want that) Anxious to see your build, good luck with it/them gatz
I took the remains of the car out to a friend's farm a couple of days ago, after cutting the body off above what floor was not rusted out, so I'll have to make a trip and check these locations. I'll be sure to take a wire brush, sawzall and a flashlight with me. The whole trunk floor was rusted out up to within about 6" of the axle and that floor area is cut from the center of the rear wheelhouses outward, so I might be able to check that area without having to cut anymore. The engine is still in the frame, so I might get some neck strain up front, but I'll give it a go and get back with you guys. The pictures are on my new smart phone and I'm still trying to figure that darn thing out, and when I do, the pictures will be posted. Thanks for your fast replies, Randy
