Technical '39 ford experts- i got a question

'39 standard sedan. spare tire hold down. got the spring loaded bolt in the car, & the well is mostly there. tire & wheel. what am i missing? googled & found some goofy bracket, but don't know how that works. pictures would be best, but any help appreciated. thanks - 1pickup

Yup! Found it in my stash of extra parts for the old beater. Thanks a bunch for your pictures, 'cuz I wasn't 100% sure I'd had it right. But, is that all that holds it in? Seems like the spare could roll side to side.

 

It's been that way since 1990. Spare has never moved. Hope this helps you
