Hot Rod Havoc DVDs

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by double nickel, Oct 10, 2007.

  1. Hey, I love the Mad Fabricator's DVDs and look forward to the release of each one but need more. I watched the trailer for the Hot Rod Havoc DVD and it doesn't look nearly as well produced as the MFS stuff. Any opinions? Are there any others like MFS that are worth buying?

  2. Apples and oranges. Some people like HRH more than MFS, some like MFS more than HRH. They're both well-produced. There's 2 HRH DVDs, if you didn't already realise.

Don't buy the "Hot Rods, Rat Rods & Kustom Kulture" DVDs....ewww, just typing that gives me bad vibes. Not good.

  3. Not really along the same lines but probable one of the most awesome collections of Hot Rod film, try 'Dreams of Legends'

i own both hrh 1 and 2 and mfs 3 and 4. i love all 4 of the videos. the mfs dvds are like video magazines where they feature segments on different cars and people with show footage between. hrh has just a bunch of show footage set to bad ass music. the only thing i dont like is how short the hrh videos are. they are both only like 40 mins long but the bonus footage is like and hour and a half. my opinion buy them all !!!!! you wont be disapointed

HRH videos remind me of snowboard or skate flicks. Action to music. I like them.

Speaking of Mad Fabricators, I spotted this personalised number plate a couple of days ago.

It stands for Maddren Fabricators but I thought it was cool.

to me there is no equal to the MFS series. those videos have not only inspired me to "go out and drive fast" but to actually get in my garage and build something.
the hot rod havoc videos are ok, but... maybe its just me... i don't want to see footage of phoney police car chases or lars frederiksen pissing on a wall.

instead of buying HRH # 1 and 2 buy the other vids evel offers, the car that ate my brain, i was a teenage monster or desperate generation.

to me, hrh is like a video version of osr. remember how everybody complained about the photography? when they showed more of the model's ass than the fender or whole car she was sitting on? in the first hrh, something neat would come on screen for all of about 1.3 seconds, and then it was gone. some car i really wanted to see more of instead of a flash. i haven't purchased the second havoc, but i have all four mfs.

  18. You know I have all the mfs stuff, I was a teenage monster shirt painter. I will pick up 5 at the detroit autorama this year but probably cant wait that long for the car that ate my brain. What is desperate generation?

desperate generation was a little different from the other vids evel has,... but i personally liked it. i don't believe he had anything to do w/ it when it was made.
it's documents the whole rockabilly/ hotrod scene in the 1990's. i have never really been into "the scene" but it's kinda cool to see how it has grow from then to now. you will recognize some of the people, cars and clubs in it. worth buying.

A friend on mine Emily Dutton did this film as project for film school
and copies got around and it became a underground hit so to speak..
I took it and fixed some things and added an hour of bonus footage..
it;s sorta like MFS but 10 years ago.,,,

I highly recommend Mad Fabricators. I was not impressed with Hot Rod Havoc at all. Just guys driving their cars with a soundtrack in the background. I couldn't get into. My two cents
