painting finned valve covers

  3. I'll resurrect this thread.......I recently decided to paint my valve covers and I used 1/8" fine line on the fins and the cherry chapstick trick on the letters, corners and details. Worked like a champ! After three successive coats with the rattle can, and about 45 mins. of dry time, the places with the chapstick came off easily. After a little #0000 steel wool and polish on the high spots and rest of the valve cover, I'm tickled with the results. What y'all think?

  4. Those look great! Chapstick is the ticket or a very thin film of Vaseline applied with a Q-tip or your finger tip.

  5. I just brushed these on my truck and wiped off the excess with a cloth with lacquer thinner,,Quick & easy. HRP
