I wanted to do this set up myself in my garage here in Michigan . I had the original 248ci straight eight dual carb factory set up that I removed . This set up is "hells gate hot rods flanges " and "speedway motors " sbc block hugger weld up kit . Intake kit and carb flanges also from " hells gate hot rods" . I still have to rebuild the holley 94 carbs and set up fuel + linkage + air cleaner . I also bought from " cars inc. " engine paint , clamps , hoses , they rebuilt my waterpump and gaskets needed too. I am very happy the way it is turning out .

Nice set up. Why when you split the exhaust manifold did you not run duals out the back? It would run cooler and sound much better!

The flanges come separated and if I ever need to remove them everything comes apart . I am one of those people that like that quiet exhaust tone . For the guys looking for running dials , when you build the headers there is certain exhaust ports that get merged together for performance and sound . I will admit mine are the easiest pattern I have seen out there , as well the intake being leveled since the factory set up was leveled too . This youtube video is of my engine with the factory dual carb set up .

Very interesting, a friend just sold an original 41 Buick sedanette (?) with factory duals. Buick had factory hot rods a few years before the Grand Nationals. I wil show this thread to him.

Set the throttle linkage up and made my linkage from the throttle pedal ( 2 return springs , one on center carb and original buick one on firewall going to pedal linkage) . Waiting on my gl*** fuel filter in the mail still .

Changed the linkage to the regular set up and changed the angle of the pedal to carb linkage also got the gl*** filter installed along with new ni cad lines to carbs , then put power valve block off's front and back carbs , also checked vacuum amount from engine then changed center carb power valve to 8.5 . This is the pictures of the set up completely done - all that is left is the test drive .

I went for my first test drive - had to the effect of no gas just air with acceleration. Turned out my back carb base had a gap by the throttle blades which was makingthe idle high also . I ordered new throttle blades from speedway motors and now the motor idles around 400 rpms smooth . The motor seamed to accelerate in the garage rough with the progressive linkage - now back to straight linkage and revs smooth . Soon ill take another test drive .

Had to do and am still adjusting things . I had to take the timing up from 1 degree to 4 degrees then adjusted front carb ****erflies , then finally open the screws to riches the fuel . Also moved the accelerator pump rod to give more squirt . The power is something to get used to , but I installed the last clutch and don't want to put another one in so tame driving for me .

I am thrilled the buick is on a regular starting and running basis . Then I gave her a well deserved wax job ( turtle wax paste ) by hand , my 8 year old daughter helped too . She is so shiny .

The more I drive it , the more I realize that the buick 248 straight eight has a lot of torque that is not unleashed from factory . If I ever desire to put a clutch in it again , I will give the engine full throttle .

Update since wrapping the headers . The engine runs richer with the intake being cooler . The engine gets to full temp and 20 minutes of running you can still grab the intake tube just off the head .
