So, on my 41 I have put a later model C3500 GMC front end under it. The steering box sticks through the front fender and grille just above where the bumper irons go through. Should I smash out a round blister and bridge between the fender and grille? Should I make a nice reveal and leave the steering box sticking out? Should I make some kind of detachable cover for the box?
You won't be able to see the box very well as I am putting a big chrome Q2b siren in front of it. I'm just not sure which way I want to proceed......any suggestions?

Make a blister for each side and uniformity; then add a front bar to subtly hide the modifications?

Leave the steering box exposed with a nice reveal and mount the siren on the opposite side?

Steering boxes are not supposed to stick out the front; better cover it. Make a matching blister for the other side, asymmetrical don't work, just saying.

Build a cover for it. Use the simple solution and hide it, it looks like a toe
sticking out of a hole in a shoe.

Just cut a big hole with a cutting torch and call it a rat rod. The damage is done now.

  10. This is how it was done on a very different vehicle. Notice that part of the box it exposed. It was very obvious and I didn't like the "look" at all. On this truck, only one side was reworked. I like the horn grilles suggestion and also 35-36 mopars had some kind of a lump in that area that would cover it.

Maybe I'll mount up the bumper and siren to get a better idea of what it's going to look like.

'37 (and maybe '38) Chevy Master Deluxe cars with the Knee Action front end, had sheet metal covers, as I recall, in the same position. Might want to find a picture of them and see if they'd fit your needs.

I dont double dog dare you... I triple dog dare you... And remember a Triple-dog-dare is infamous for the sole reason that you cannot back down from it--without exception! An issued triple-dog-dare has no counteraction and must be implemented and/or carried out.... _a christmas story...

So, if I go the blister route do I weld to one panel say the fender and let the blister "float" over the grille section ? Or do I weld both sides and split it and use fender welt in the gap? Or do I make loose blisters that attach somehow, probably make some kind of bracket that is sandwiched in the seam?

I would say a detachable version bolted in the seam would be the best route to go

Now that right there is funny, don't care who you are!

I vote to make the blisters more oval shape. The round doesn't fit in the lines of the fender too well.
