From what I know, this is the stock front crossmember. I am going to use a 32-36 drop axle from Okie Joe and probably a posie spring. My question is. Does this crossmember have the correct caster or do I need a different one?

    Thanks
    Jeff

It should be just fine. after it's all all set up, take it a good front end shop and they will set your caster by twisting the axle between the king pin and the spring mount holes. That is how it was and is done. The front cross member does not determine caster. This cross member has not been altered so binding of the spring in the pocket should not be an issue.

Has it been altered in any way,,it looks like the bottom is bolted in and the 3 factory rivets on each side appear to be missing. HRP

Yes, at one time it was moved forward, but has since been relocated back to its original factory location.

Once it is in the correct location you really need to weld everything in place. HRP

Adjustable perches would be a plus anyway.

I used them all the time but modify them as shown to me by Pete Eastwood who is a master on Deuce ch***is. They work just fine. Here is a photo of Pete's work on his sedan. 32 redo 001.jpg

The 32 front cross member often cracked in the center at the spring mounting. Late in 32 Ford added a thick reinforcement to this area and welded it in place. 33 had the same problems. The 34 front cross member is stronger but they can crack also.

I've only seen the '32 crossmembers with the reinforcement plate riveted in place. It's on the underside, so you only see a couple rivets on each side of the spring clamps.
